Overview

Macan Electric, PPE

Compact, electric, quick.

The Macan moved to a dedicated electric architecture — the Premium Platform Electric, developed with Audi — with an 800-volt system and a 100 kWh gross battery. The Turbo variant produces up to 470 kW with Launch Control and 1,130 Nm, in a body short enough to work in a city.

Specifications

Each block names one variant, one model year and one market. Figures are not interchangeable between trims — a number quoted for a GTS does not describe a Carrera.

Engineering

How it is built

Four decisions that shape how this car behaves — described in the terms the engineers use, without invented terminology.

Premium Platform Electric

A dedicated electric architecture rather than an adapted combustion platform: the battery sits flat in the floor, the motors are packaged at the axles, and the 800-volt system supports DC charging up to 270 kW.

Bank charging

At 400-volt DC stations the high-voltage battery can be split into two parallel banks so it can still be charged at a useful rate without an additional booster.

Rear-biased all-wheel drive

Torque distribution is biased to the rear axle and adjusted continuously, keeping the handling balance closer to a sports car than to a conventional SUV.

Rear-axle steering

Available rear-axle steering reduces the turning circle in city use and improves stability during high-speed lane changes.
